Scottish Highland Trails: Disabled Guests

At “Scottish Highland Trails” we appreciate that many potential guests decide not to travel to countries overseas due to medical problems, or difficulties with mobility. Such reluctance to travel was once a realistic response to the lack of facilities available to those so challenged. However, times have changed:

All the major airlines are well equipped and experienced in assisting all such travellers although they may wish to ensure that they have approval of their medical advisors prior to travel.

There is no need to bring a wheel chair with you unless you have one specifically adapted for your own requirements. The airports and airlines have chairs for use to and from the aircraft, and we are in a position to rent wheelchairs on your behalf for use in Scotland. If you do require to bring your own wheelchair, most major international airlines will carry it in addition to you normal personal weight allowance for luggage.

Once in Scotland, “Scottish Highland Trails” can arrange suitable and appropriate transport for all such guests whether they are semi mobile or, travelling with wheelchairs.

For solo travellers, we can arrange Driver/Guides who will assist in all aspects of your tour during which your problems require that extra bit of help.

We regularly make reservations for Guests who require Ground Floor (in the USA you call them First Floor) rooms with easy access both to the room, and to the toilet/shower/bathroom facilities within the room. We have a list of accommodation available throughout the Country where facilities have been adapted to suit wheelchair users.

We regularly make reservations for Guests who require beds in close proximity to an electricity supply for medical equipment, and have a full and comprehensive list of doctors, surgeries and hospital casualty departments throughout Scotland should assistance be required during your vacation. Access to such information is available through our 24-hour help line.

To summarise, we will do everything in our power to facilitate those Guests to whom a trip to Scotland is just that bit more of a challenge. As with everything else we do, great reliance is put on you telling us precisely what you need during the planning process, allowing us to draw up the most appropriate package for your requirements.
